Vampire movies aren’t new. Vampires come and go in the film industry such as “Blade (I, II and III)” , “Underworld“, and many other appearances in movies, like Van Helsing or League of the Extraordinary Gentlemen.
And then, Stephanie Meyer introduced Twilight.

Within months, the book grew famous, especially among teenage girls. As book sales grew higher and higher, the demand for the movie to be filmed grew higher as well. Hence, the first movie of Ms. Meyer’s creation hit the big screen, leading to a new craze among shrieking, vampire-obsessed women. Move over the old vampire films, Twilight became the talk of the town.
What’s so special about the Twilight film is that it helped visualize what Stephanie Meyer wanted her readers to see: the perfect, out of this world character named Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson). The man. The type of person that any girl would wish to have. Add to that a twist of a love story that is somewhat different from all the other love films being shown at that time, as well as characters like werewolves and vampires living among humans..this has become a vampire movie that is different from all the other past vampire films that included humans fighting vampires for survival.
Another important factor that made this movie different is that post-production companies behind this film generated the characters and the surroundings well. The director most likely had the town of forks (the setting of the story) color-graded so that it’ll show the cloudy scene in Meyer’s book. And it worked well. Werewolves, instead of the traditional dog-sized ones, were generated like giants in order to show their ferocity and wildness even more.
Story-wise, the film isn’t just about a woman falling in love with a vampire and taking the risk. It involves vampires fighting against fellow vampires and settling werewolf disputes, all of which affect Bella Swan (played by Kirsten Bell). And it doesn’t end in one film, as it is followed by 4 more twilight films: New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn parts 1 and 2.
Try watching it. Immerse yourself and read the book. It’s not another vampire movie, it’s Twilight. And it doesn’t need any more explanation why it’s different.
